Mugwort Grove: Who and What We Are

Mugwort Grove is a collection of folks in the DC metro area following the path of neopagan druidism. Together we explore how the old ways can be fit to modern times, and learn from each other as we grow in our earth-centered spirituality. We are a non-profit organization and a local chapter of Ár nDraíocht Féin (ADF). (Ár nDraíocht Féin is Gaelic for "Our Own Druidism" or "A Druid Fellowship.")

PHILOSOPHY

ADF is a polytheistic nature religion with a pan-Indo-European focus. (To find out more about ADF, visit www.adf.org.) As members, we primarily use Celtic deities for the four fire festivals (Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh), but also work with Norse, Greco-Roman, Hindu, and other deities on the solstices and equinoxes.

We do not proclaim an unbroken line of knowledge passed down from the ancient druids to today--that would be silly! Rather we seek to revive the old religion in its best aspects, adapting it to a modern age.

While we do have elected officers, this does not imply a hierarchy in the grove: anyone may lead a ritual, teach a class, or suggest a volunteer project. Mugwort runs on the energy and good will of its volunteers.

Mugwort members come from a range of backgrounds: we find value in the many different ways there are to interpret and create things.

EVENTS

Mugwort serves the greater area of Washington, D.C., providing open classes and holiday celebrations throughout the year. Our holidays are usually held in outdoor public parks (weather permitting), and our classes and meditations at the homes of members.

We meet for all manner of events from pagan arts and crafts, to social gatherings, to a wide variety of discussions on spiritual, Celtic, and magick-related topics. Please see our current calendar for a list of upcoming events.

MEMBERSHIP

You don't need to belong to our parent organization, ADF, to join Mugwort Grove. We encourage friends and solitaries to drop in whenever they can to our many classes and holiday rituals.

To join Mugwort Grove, we ask that new people attend at least half of all events in a quarter, including a high day, and exhibit a willingness to contribute energy to the grove. We do not have dues, but do ask for $25 donations from those who become members.
